Leader of Iraq’s Kurdistan Democratic Party Reacts to PKK Dissolution
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Shafaq News,the leader of iraq’s kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has responded to the dissolution of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party).
Massoud barzani, head of the KDP, expressed his full support for the success of Turkey’s peace process. Barzani stated: “It is gratifying that after the PKK conference and certain decisions made, relevant parties in Turkey’s peace process have demonstrated positive stances and taken constructive steps toward resolving issues peacefully.”
he added: “We hope this process yields favorable outcomes benefiting everyone in the region.”
Earlier, Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, had welcomed the PKK’s decision to dissolve itself and lay down arms in response to Abdullah Öcalan’s call. He described it as a “historic move that opens a new chapter for the region.”
The PKK officially announced its dissolution today after four decades of armed conflict with turkey.
