Hamas confirms Alexander’s release: ready for comprehensive ceasefire agreement
Hamas Announces Release of Zionist-American Soldier Aiden Alexander in Statement
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated in a release that the al-Qassam Brigades freed Aiden Alexander, a Zionist soldier with American citizenship, moments ago following contacts and negotiations with the U.S. government.
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shehab News Agency, Hamas confirmed the release occurred within the framework of mediation efforts for a ceasefire, reopening crossings, and delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza Strip.
The statement emphasized that this step followed “important contacts and negotiations,” which Hamas evaluated as highly positive. It stressed that “serious, responsible talks on prisoner exchanges yield results,” warning that continued aggression would only prolong suffering or lead to prisoners’ deaths.
Hamas further declared its readiness for immediate negotiations toward a thorough agreement ensuring:
- A permanent ceasefire
- Withdrawal of occupying forces
- An end to the blockade
- Prisoner exchanges
- Reconstruction of Gaza
The statement also called on President Trump’s administration to intensify efforts to halt this “brutal war” initiated by “war criminal Netanyahu against defenseless children, women, and civilians in Gaza.”
