Tension between Washington and Tel Aviv escalates
Freedom of American-Israeli Prisoner Without coordination with Tel Aviv Angers Zionist Authorities
According to a report by teh English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing Turkey’s Anatolia News Agency, Channel 13 Israel revealed in a report that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to present a “globe-trotting” image of relations with the U.S., while tensions between Tel Aviv and Washington are escalating daily.
The report states that some ministers in the Israeli cabinet, during an unusual meeting held on Monday at Netanyahu’s invitation, sharply criticized the Trump administration.
The primary reason for these criticisms is reportedly the direct agreement between the United States and Hamas for the release of Al-Quds Brigades prisoner Alexander Trufanov, an American-Israeli dual national, without coordination with Tel Aviv—an action that has been publicly announced.
according to Channel 13 Israel, this move by Washington has further strained already tense relations. The tension has caused anger among some political circles in Tel Aviv, and it is seen as a sign of America’s declining trust in the Netanyahu government.
An Israeli official told this network: “The expansion of military operations in Gaza is likely, and the reason for it is the intense pressure to return to negotiations with Hamas.”
The same source added: “The release of [Hamas leader] Ismail Haniyeh’s sister, Eid Al-Kasander, has created a new diplomatic movement, and Tel Aviv is currently reviewing all scenarios for decision-making regarding the continuation of this path in the coming days.”
This comes as Channel 12 Israel reported that Yoav Gallant, Israel’s Defense Minister, warned about Gaza by saying: “In the coming days, events will unfold in Gaza that have not been seen before.”
