In his first official reaction to the announcement of the PKK’s dissolution, turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the move as a meaningful step toward strengthening his country’s national security.
According to a report by the English section of “webangah News agency” citing Mehr News Agency adn Anadolu Agency, Erdoğan addressed the issue during a speech following a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Ankara. Referring to the PKK’s dissolution statement, he stated: “Turkey views this decision as a critical measure for national security and the begining of a new era aimed at reinforcing coexistence and fraternity among all Turkish citizens.”
Erdoğan added: “With terrorism and violence removed from the equation, turkey will enter a fresh phase where democratic capacities for political activity will be further strengthened.”
He also remarked: “The formal dissolution of the PKK and laying down arms mark an end to an era where families faced daily news of their children’s martyrdom.”
The Turkish president concluded by emphasizing: “We consider this decision applicable to all branches of the group in Syria, northern Iraq, and Europe.”
