Trump impeachment motion in US Congress
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the news outlet Axios reported on a Democratic lawmaker’s move to impeach U.S. President Donald Trump.
The report states: Sheri Tandard, a Democratic representative from Michigan, initiated a House vote on Tuesday regarding her seven articles of impeachment against Trump.
This issue is important becuase Republicans in the House are likely to table or dismiss Tandard’s proposal, putting Democrats in a challenging position,as many prefer to avoid such a vote altogether.
Tandard’s move forces the House to address the matter by the end of the week unless she withdraws her proposal herself.
Advisors to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have not responded to requests for comment on this matter.
Tandard’s 29-page resolution accuses Trump of multiple offenses, including obstruction of justice, abuse of power, corruption, and authoritarian governance.
Many allegations focus on Trump’s consolidation of power through executive actions, as well as personal financial matters and improper benefits.
Tandard briefly told Axios in Congress: “I’ve been somewhat in touch with Democratic leadership but didn’t seek permission for this action—I simply informed them.”
“Trump has committed unconstitutional acts,” she emphasized when asked about her party’s dissatisfaction. “He committed impeachable offenses, and I was obligated to fulfill my legal duty.”
