Friday Iran and Europe negotiations on JCPOA in Istanbul
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr news Agency, Reuters reported based on two European sources and one Iranian diplomatic source that Tehran’s officials will meet with European counterparts in Istanbul next Friday to discuss the nuclear agreement signed in July 2015.
These consultations take place as both sides aim to strengthen their positions regarding the agreement before the fifth round of Iran-U.S. negotiations, which will be held in the coming days.
Previously, talks between Iran and Europe had stalled due to European obstructionism, threats, detentions of Iranian citizens, expanded sanctions against Iran’s missile program, and their threats to trigger the snapback mechanism.
Nevertheless, Europeans—faced with Tehran’s insistence on its principled stance and particularly amid ongoing negotiations with the U.S.—chose to maintain direct dialog channels with Tehran, considering it beneficial for their interests.
