Iraqi political activist: Turkey no longer has an excuse for military presence in Iraq

An Iraqi political activist emphasized ‌the necessity ⁣of Turkish military forces withdrawing from the ​country following the dissolution of the PKK.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency⁢ and Al-Maalomah, Kazem Atiyah⁣ Al-Shammari, head of Iraq’s ⁣National Solidarity party, stressed that⁢ with the declaration of​ the dissolution‌ of Turkey’s Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its disarmament, there ⁤is no longer⁢ any justification for Turkish⁣ forces to remain in iraq.

He added: The Iraqi government must take‌ necessary measures to ensure⁣ national sovereignty and expel ​Turkish forces from ‍Iraqi territory.

Al-Shammari⁤ further stated: The Iraqi ‍parliament opposes the presence of foreign forces on its soil. After the dissolution of the PKK,Turkey must withdraw its troops from⁢ northern ⁣Iraq and occupied ⁣regions.

He noted: Turkey previously justified ‌its presence in iraq under the pretext of combating the PKK, but this justification no longer exists.
