According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera Qatar,Donald Trump, the U.S. President, stated in recent remarks that his country is working toward reaching an agreement with Iran but emphasized that the Iranian side must “take faster steps.”
He also noted that Qatar could play a meaningful role in this process and said: “We hope Qatar will help us resolve the situation with Iran as we might potentially be able to save millions of lives—and we don’t want things to spiral out of control.”
These remarks come as the U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions against Iran.
Meanwhile, Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, told Al Arabiya Al Hadath: “The recent statements by U.S. officials are full of contradictions; on one hand, they speak of negotiations and agreements, yet on the other hand, they continue their illegal and oppressive sanctions against Iran.” He added that these contradictions indicate a lack of seriousness and goodwill from the U.S. in the negotiation process.
