Russian delegation for talks with Ukraine in Turkey announced
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-yaum network, the Russian delegation—approved by Putin—will be headed by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the russian president.
the other core members of the delegation include Mikhail Galozin,Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia; Igor Kostyukov,Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces; and Alexander Fomin,Deputy Defense Minister of Russia.
The Kremlin also released a list of experts accompanying russia’s official delegation: Alexander Zorin, First Deputy Head of the Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff; Ilyana podobryfskaya, Deputy Head of the Humanitarian Policy Office under Russia’s Presidential Management; Alexei Bolishchuk, Director of CIS Affairs at Russia’s Foreign Ministry; and Viktor Shiftsov, Deputy Head for International Military Cooperation at Russia’s Defense Ministry.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported citing sources that former U.S. President Donald Trump will not participate in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine scheduled to take place in Turkey.
The sources stated Trump does not plan to travel to Turkey for these talks. Earlier aboard Air Force One while en route from Saudi Arabia to Qatar he told reporters: “I don’t know if he [Putin] will be there if I’m in Turkey.”
“I know he wants me there,” Trump added. “It’s a possibility. If we could end this war I’d consider going.”
Ukrainian media confirmed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend today’s meeting in Turkey.
Zelenskyy had previously invited Putin for direct talks in Turkey and urged Trump to make a visit as well.
