Details of Vitkaf meeting with Hamas leaders in Doha
According to the English section of the webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and palestine’s Sama News Agency,Israel’s Kan channel and Egypt’s Al-Shorouk newspaper reported that Steve Witkoff,the U.S. president’s special envoy to the Middle East, met with Hamas leaders in Doha on Wednesday as part of negotiations regarding a prisoner exchange.
The report states that alongside Adam Boehler, the U.S. special representative for hostage affairs—who had previously met with Hamas officials—a Qatari mediation delegation also attended the meeting.
The report adds that Hamas was represented by Mohammad al-Darwish, head of the movement’s consultative council; Khalil al-Hayya, head of its negotiation team; and Zaher Jabareen, responsible for prisoner affairs in the West bank.
The outlets further noted that during this meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump held a brief discussion with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani regarding developments in Gaza—a session attended by Witkoff.
A Palestinian official described the ongoing talks in Doha as “decisive,” particularly concerning disputed issues and initiating a new phase of diplomatic engagement.
A Hamas official revealed that negotiations in Doha have been “positive,” noting signs of a shift in Washington’s approach to war-related policies.
