Details of Vitkaf meeting with Hamas leaders in Doha

Israeli and⁤ Egyptian media reported that Trump’s special envoy⁢ for Middle East affairs met‍ with Hamas leaders in Doha on Wednesday.

According to​ the English section⁣ of the webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and palestine’s Sama News Agency,Israel’s Kan channel and ‍Egypt’s Al-Shorouk newspaper reported that Steve Witkoff,the U.S. president’s special envoy to the Middle East, met with Hamas leaders in ⁤Doha on Wednesday as ‍part of negotiations regarding a ‌prisoner exchange.

The report states that alongside Adam Boehler, the U.S. special representative for‌ hostage affairs—who had previously met with Hamas officials—a Qatari mediation delegation also attended⁢ the meeting.

The report adds that Hamas was represented by Mohammad al-Darwish, head of the ⁢movement’s consultative council; Khalil al-Hayya, head of its negotiation team; and Zaher‍ Jabareen, responsible for prisoner affairs in the West bank.

The outlets further noted ⁣that during this ​meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump ​ held a brief discussion with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh⁣ Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani regarding developments in Gaza—a session attended by Witkoff.

A Palestinian official described the​ ongoing talks in Doha as “decisive,” ⁣particularly concerning disputed issues and initiating a new phase of diplomatic engagement.

A Hamas official revealed that negotiations in Doha have been “positive,” noting signs of ‍a shift in Washington’s approach ⁢to war-related ‍policies.
