Fruitless adventure in Red Sea depletes US arms stockpile
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, John Flenn, the U.S. Navy Secretary, noted that America’s military adventurism in the Red Sea against the Houthis (Ansarullah of Yemen) has depleted its weapons stockpile and stated that the country is now working to replenish its reserves.
In a written statement to the U.S. House appropriations Committee, Flenn saeid: “The ongoing conflicts in the Red Sea have drawn my attention to our munitions stockpile. Since October 2023, naval vessels have participated in operations against the Houthis and consumed significant amounts of air defense munitions. We are now collaborating with the Department of Defense to replace them.”
The Ansarullah movement in Yemen pledged late in 2023—in solidarity with occupied Palestine—to target all Zionist ships passing through the Red Sea or those heading toward occupied territories. These attacks will continue as long as Gaza’s blockade and war persist.
Following these attacks and heightened concerns over security in this critical maritime route, many shipping companies suspended transit through this passage. The assaults prompted Washington to form a multilateral coalition—including Britain—to launch extensive strikes on Ansarullah positions under what it called “support for freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.”
However, former U.S. President donald Trump announced last week that after reaching a ceasefire agreement with Sana’a, Washington’s attacks on Yemen would cease, while Ansarullah would refrain from targeting American ships—though this does not apply to Zionist vessels or those bound for occupied territories.
