BRICS development bank has attracted $140 billion in capital over 10 years
According too a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and BRICS TV, Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), highlighted the bank’s pivotal role in supporting development across Global South countries during her speech at the opening ceremony of the fourth China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Ministers’ Forum.
She stated: The BRICS Development Bank is the first global multilateral financial institution exclusively established by developing nations, with a mission to finance projects that foster lasting development in Global South countries.
Rousseff noted that over its 10 years of operation, the bank has successfully attracted $140 billion in capital.Additionally, 24% of its financial operations are currently conducted in member countries’ national currencies, while approximately 31% of its funding is sourced through these currencies.
The bank’s president also underscored the meaning of strategic collaboration between China and CELAC,describing it as a partnership grounded in equality. She further assessed China’s role as highly impactful in supporting development across Global South nations.
