BRICS development bank has attracted $140 billion in capital over 10 years

The head of the BRICS‍ New Development Bank emphasized the⁤ institution’s role in advancing development ‍in the Global South and announced the attraction of $140 billion in capital over 10 years.

According too ‍a report by the English ​section of webangah News Agency, citing ‍Mehr News Agency and BRICS TV, Dilma Rousseff, ⁣President ‌of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), highlighted the‍ bank’s pivotal role in supporting development ‍across ⁣Global South ⁤countries during her speech at the opening ceremony of the fourth China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Ministers’ Forum.

She stated: The BRICS Development Bank is the first global ‍multilateral financial⁣ institution exclusively established by developing nations, with a ‍mission to finance⁤ projects that foster lasting development in Global South countries.

Rousseff ‍noted that ⁣over its‍ 10 years of operation, the bank has successfully attracted $140 ⁣billion in capital.Additionally,‌ 24%⁢ of its financial operations are currently conducted in member countries’ national ⁣currencies, while approximately 31% of its funding⁣ is sourced through these currencies.

The bank’s president ​also underscored the meaning of strategic collaboration between China and CELAC,describing it as a partnership grounded in equality. She‌ further assessed China’s role as highly impactful in supporting development across Global South nations.
