Mahmoud Abbas: We want a comprehensive ceasefire
According to a report by the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, addressed perilous and serious regional and international developments during the 34th Arab league Summit in Baghdad. He stated: Israel’s killings and forced displacement of Palestinians are part of a project to weaken the two-state solution. The Palestinian cause faces existential threats, and I call for an Arab initiative to achieve peace.
He reiterated his demand for disarming Palestinian resistance groups and called for an international conference in Cairo to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction.
Mahmoud Abbas said: “We demand an international conference in Cairo to secure funding and implement Gaza’s reconstruction plan. We also seek financial support for reform and advancement programs in the West Bank and Jerusalem amid the blockade on PA revenues.”
The PA leader emphasized: “Our vision remains grounded in a complete ceasefire, halting unilateral measures like settlements and displacing Palestinians.We urge launching a political process within a defined timeframe to implement the two-state solution.”
Abbas added: “We seek one governance system, one law, one military. We are prepared to hold legislative council elections next year.”
