Rubio Reveals Latest Developments on Trump-Putin Meeting
webangah News Agency reports that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated Washington adn Moscow are currently coordinating the time and location for a meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, following Trump’s request for expedited talks.
Rubio noted: “The president has publicly announced this proposal. Arranging such a meeting requires some logistical work.I can’t confirm that specific plans are being finalized as we speak.”
He added: “However, President trump wants this to happen and prefers it occur quickly. We believe the Russian side has also expressed interest. The current focus is aligning all parties on timing, venue, and agenda items.”
The American diplomat emphasized: “Ultimately, direct dialog between Trump and Putin may be the only way to break this deadlock. The president has clearly stated his belief in the necessity of this meeting, and we hope it materializes soon with positive outcomes.”
Trump previously announced on his Truth Social platform that he would call Putin at 10 AM local time on May 19 to discuss resolving the Ukraine conflict and trade matters. He indicated plans for subsequent calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders following this conversation. Their last phone discussion occurred on march 18.
