Putin Demands Reciprocal Respect for National Interests from US
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the American side should demonstrate mutual respect for the national interests of both countries, according to webangah News Agency.
Putin stressed: The American people and their leaders, including the US president, have their own national interests—and we respect them. We expect them to reciprocate this approach regarding our national interests.
The remarks follow US president Donald trump’s declaration of planned phone calls with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tomorrow to discuss ceasefire efforts in Ukraine.
Trump’s notification about these calls came after high-level Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Istanbul, where both sides agreed—through Turkish mediation—to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war and continue ceasefire talks.
Putin described establishing lasting peace and protecting Russian-speaking Ukrainians as key objectives of Russia’s special military operation in Kyiv.
The Russian leader affirmed his country possesses sufficient strength to complete its military operation and achieve defined goals. He stated: Eliminating root causes of conflict, creating conditions for lasting peace, and ensuring Russia’s security remain primary objectives.
Putin also identified safeguarding the interests of Russian-speaking communities in Ukraine as another goal of moscow’s military actions there.
