Trump Says India Will Soon Lift Tariffs on US Goods

US‍ President claims India is preparing to ​slash import tariffs on ​american ‍goods by 100%.

According to webangah News Agency, US President Donald Trump stated that India is ready to⁤ reduce‍ its import tariffs ‍on American goods by‌ 100% in the near ⁢future.

In an interview ‍with Fox News,‌ Trump said: ⁣”India… is one of the countries with the highest taxes or tariffs. They make ⁣doing business nearly unfeasible.”

Trump added: “Did you know they’re willing ‌to cut their‍ tariffs on (imports from) America by 100%? Yes, this will happen soon.”

The ⁤US imposed 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from India starting March 12 without prior consultation with New Delhi.

Washington‌ responded to India’s request regarding ‌these tariffs⁤ by stating that the export policy adjustments were made to protect US national security.

Bloomberg previously ⁢reported that the US and India have finalized trade terms in negotiations for a new agreement expected⁢ to boost bilateral trade volume ⁤and expand supply chain cooperation between the two nations.

On⁢ April 9,Trump decided to suspend heavy tariffs he had ⁤announced earlier on April ​2 for ‍a 90-day period. this move was intended to give countries seeking ⁤trade agreements with the ​US⁢ time for⁢ negotiations.

According to governance officials, about 100 countries have expressed readiness for negotiations,​ putting significant pressure on the‌ US trade negotiation team to reach agreements within this ⁢short timeframe.
