Turkish intelligence chief visits Tripoli amid escalating Libya clashes
Amid armed clashes in Libya, a senior Turkish intelligence official arrives in the country.
According to webangah News Agency, Jamaluddin Chalik, deputy head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), arrived in Tripoli as the first foreign official to visit since the outbreak of internal conflicts.
Chalik is scheduled to meet with senior libyan officials and military commanders.
Tensions and security clashes have escalated in Tripoli following civilian protests demanding the removal of the Government of National Unity led by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.
The killing of Abdul Ghani Al-Kikli, head of Libya’s Stability Support Apparatus affiliated with the Presidential Council, has triggered armed clashes between Defence Ministry forces and other factions.
