Iraq warns of secret terrorist recruitment base in Syria
Iraq’s Fatah Alliance representative warns of dangerous scenarios posed by ISIS-held prisons in Syria.
webangah News Agency reports that Muhammad al-Baldawi, a representative of Iraq’s Fatah Alliance, emphasized that prisons holding ISIS elements in Syrian territory represent a real and ongoing threat to Iraq’s national security.
He added that these facilities, containing hundreds of ISIS terrorists in northeastern Syria—notably areas under U.S.-backed control—have become covert recruitment hubs for terrorist activities.
Al-Baldawi further stated that the lack of internal security within these prisons, combined with weak international oversight, creates dangerous scenarios for potential terrorist resurgence inside Iraq.
