Israeli General Warns Gaza Occupation Endangers Lives of Hostages
webangah News Agency reports that as Israel’s military announced the launch of its “Gideon’s Chariot” operation yesterday morning—intensifying attacks on Gaza amid ongoing genocide allegations against palestinian civilians—Zionist circles acknowledge future assaults lack concrete plans to rescue Israeli hostages, endangering their lives.
An unnamed senior Zionist military official told Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth: “Full occupation of Gaza could result in hostage deaths. If we want them back alive, we must negotiate with Hamas and reach an agreement.”
The official added: “Planned attacks in Gaza include no hostage-rescue components—only vague statements. Israel has failed for months to retrieve captives through military pressure.”
The officer emphasized: “Israel must choose between occupying Gaza and killing hostages, or making a deal with Hamas to end the war.”
This follows recent criticism by Avigdor lieberman, head of the Yisrael beiteinu party and former israeli defense minister, who mocked prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet: “Anyone who hasn’t defeated Hamas after 1 year and 7 months won’t succeed in 17 years. Provided that Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, eliminating Hamas is unachievable.”
