Baqaei’s latest stance on US negotiations in interview with Al Mayadeen
According to webangah News Agency, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told Al-Mayadeen that “contradictory stances in every round of negotiations prolong talks and breed distrust.” He emphasized, “We negotiate under the shadow of ongoing U.S. measures against us—sanctions and threats. Under these conditions, we do not expect mutual trust during negotiations.”
Baghaei added: “We cannot fully grasp the exact intention behind the U.S. proposal to ‘reduce enrichment levels to zero.'”
Addressing Iran’s regional policy,he stated: “Iran holds a special regard for its neighbors. Regional security is a strategic priority for us. We believe a strong region emerges when powerful nations engage constructively with mutual understanding.” He reiterated Iran’s readiness for dialog and cooperation with neighboring states, extending “a hand of friendship.”
The spokesperson concluded: “Any observer can deduce that legislators are gradually yielding to pressures misaligned with diplomatic efforts. One primary source appears to be the Zionist regime, which seeks to perpetuate a state of perpetual conflict in the region.”
