Trump Says US Never Should Have Intervened in Ukraine War
According to webangah News Agency, former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden for channeling vast sums of american taxpayer funds into the Ukraine war, asserting the U.S. should never have become involved.
Following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump expressed regret over what he called America’s “crazy” level of intervention in Ukraine, stressing “this wasn’t our war.” He emphasized his governance’s efforts to resolve the conflict through diplomacy.
“This isn’t our war. It’s not my war,” Trump stated. “We entangled ourselves in something we never should’ve entered. Had we stayed out, things would’ve worked out better – it couldn’t possibly be worse than this current disaster!”
The former president noted Washington has provided Kyiv with military and financial aid on an “unprecedented scale,” far exceeding contributions from EU nations and other NATO allies.
“We don’t have boots on the ground there - nor should we,” Trump continued. “But we gambled big time. The allocated funds are mind-boggling! This was Europe’s problem that should’ve remained European-level business, yet we got dragged in deeper than Europe because the previous administration felt compelled to intervene! We spent record-breaking amounts both militarily and financially.”
After conversations with European leaders including Germany’s Olaf Scholz, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, UK officials, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump observed: “They face a massive crisis – a horrific war where anger and bloodshed have reached levels making disengagement extremely difficult.”
Trump claimed both Putin and Zelenskyy desire peace but noted only time will tell if such an outcome remains achievable.
“We’ve got a real chance to end this,” he added.”I believe that’s what Putin wants too – I’ve always been about deals throughout my life… If I thought Putin wasn’t serious about ending this? I wouldn’t even be talking about it right now!”
