Al-Qaida-linked militants attack Alawite village in Syria
According to webangah News Agency, militants affiliated with the terrorist Al-Julani group attacked the village of Al-Zawba, predominantly inhabited by Alawites, yesterday.
The village, located near Baniyas, saw several residents abducted by the militants during the assault. Areas surrounding baniyas have recently witnessed repeated attacks of this nature.
Separately, a correspondent from Al-Mayadeen network reported today that the body of a security officer from Bashar al-Assad’s regime was found in Ghbab, north of Daraa.
Assassinations and killings have surged across Syria—notably those driven by retaliatory motives following attempts to overthrow Assad’s government. As extremist groups gained influence in Syria, multiple assassinations targeting former officials have been recorded.
