ABC News reported over 300 passengers were stranded inside the train.The incident occurred between Sydney’s Strathfield and Homebush stations.
Local authorities and rescue teams are working to safely evacuate all passengers.
The accident has suspended rail services between Sydney Central and Lidcombe stations. Sydney Trains confirmed crews are removing the 1500-volt power cables from the train’s roof.
