Qatar’s Prime Minister Seeks to Bridge Divide Between Iran and US
According to a report by webangah News Agency, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza persists, with repeated missed opportunities for a ceasefire. He emphasized that Qatar continues its mediation efforts alongside Egypt and the U.S.to achieve a truce.
The Qatari leader noted they had hoped the release of Idan Alexander would end Gaza’s crisis, but instead, it was met with intensified rocket attacks on the strip. He described former U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Qatar as significant and productive, highlighting discussions on regional security and future economic cooperation between both nations.
Bin Abdulrahman stressed that Qatar-U.S. relations remain strong across successive American administrations due to their institutional nature. Regarding prisoner exchange negotiations with Israel, he acknowledged such talks often reach deadlocks before finalization due to political maneuvering.
The Prime Minister asserted that ending Gaza’s war requires diplomatic efforts alone but revealed recent Doha-mediated talks stalled over widening gaps between parties. On Iran-U.S. tensions, he said Washington seeks no escalation under Trump’s governance: ”We hope diplomacy prevails—another regional war is what we least desire.”
He confirmed ongoing coordination with Iranian and Omani counterparts to explore solutions bridging Washington-tehran divides.
