Italy ready to host new round of Tehran-Washington talks
According to webangah News Agency, italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced via X (formerly Twitter) that his country is prepared to host future U.S.-Iran negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program.
Tajani stated on X: “I spoke by phone with Rafael Grossi (IAEA Director General) for updates on the nuclear talks. We are closely monitoring developments in U.S.-Iran negotiations and believe Iran’s nuclear issue must be resolved through dialog.”
He added: “During this call, I reiterated Italy’s full support for the IAEA’s work and our willingness to onc again host upcoming talks in Rome.”
The minister noted that his discussion with Grossi also addressed the situation in Ukraine.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed consultations among the foreign ministers of iran, Oman, and Qatar regarding indirect U.S.-Iran talks but stated no final decision had been made about the next round’s timing or location.
Wall Street Journal reporter Laurence Norman, who covers Iran’s nuclear program, claimed the fifth round of negotiations would occur this weekend (early next week). On X, he wrote: “Sources suggest the next Iran talks are scheduled for this weekend in Rome.”
The fourth round of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. took place in Muscat on May 10.
