Southern Lebanon residents clash with UNIFIL forces
Lebanese sources report clashes between residents of southern Lebanon and UNIFIL forces.
According to webangah News Agency, residents of the village of Shaqra in southern Lebanon blocked the path of a UN peacekeeping patrol (UNIFIL), preventing the forces from entering the village without being accompanied by the Lebanese army.
The protesters used peaceful methods to stop UNIFIL’s entry into Shaqra, chanting slogans opposing the movement of these forces without coordination with Lebanon’s military.
Simultaneously, Lebanese sources reported that residents of Ainata village also protested against UNIFIL entering their area without prior approval from the Lebanese army.
Additional reports indicate clashes have broken out between UNIFIL troops and residents of Al-Jamejmeh town in southern Lebanon.
