PKK disarmament process faces uncertainty

Iraqi Kurdistan’s Interior Minister states⁤ no practical steps have been taken too disarm the PKK.

According ⁤to webangah News Agency, Reber ahmed, the Interior⁤ Minister ‍of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, addressed the timeline adn process for disarming the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party).

Ahmed stated‍ that no concrete actions have yet been implemented regarding PKK disarmament, with uncertainty remaining about ⁤when or how this process will occur.

The minister emphasized that while negotiations between Turkey and the⁣ PKK are ongoing, no operational measures have been taken so far.He noted that the Kurdistan ​Regional Government has played a mediating role between both parties and‌ will continue ⁢to do so.

Regarding disarmament logistics, Ahmed acknowledged unresolved complexities: “Some aspects remain unclear⁢ even to negotiators. The timeline, methodology, and location for disarmament require further discussion.”

The statement follows last week’s announcement by the⁢ PKK declaring ​its dissolution as a party ​and cessation of armed activities.
