China shares its model for eradicating poverty
Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that his government stands ready to share its poverty alleviation expertise with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries, according to webangah News Agency.
In a message to participants at the SCO Forum on Poverty Reduction and Lasting Development, President Xi wrote: ”As the current chair of the SCO, China wishes to strengthen strategic communications with all parties, share our anti-poverty experience, and deepen practical cooperation.”
Xi pledged that Beijing would help more countries “follow a path of poverty eradication and sustainable development in line with their national characteristics.”
The Chinese leader emphasized the importance of collective efforts to “build a stunning world free from poverty were everyone enjoys prosperity.” He noted that improving people’s welfare represents both “a global challenge and common goal for all nations.”
President Xi highlighted that China achieved its poverty reduction target 10 years ahead of schedule under the UN’s 2030 sustainable Development Agenda. He described poverty alleviation as fundamentally linked to development, noting that the SCO has made “remarkable achievements” through active cooperation in this field in recent years.
The Forum on Poverty reduction and Sustainable Development opened Tuesday in Xi’an - capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China. The event was organized by the SCO Good-Neighborliness Commitee alongside regional authorities.
