UK imposes new sanctions on 100 Russian individuals and entities
The UK Foreign Office has imposed 100 new sanctions on Russian individuals and entities across military, energy, financial sectors, and related fields, according to a statement reported by webangah News Agency.
Among those sanctioned are 14 members of Russia’s “Social Design Agency” accused of running disinformation campaigns. The measures also target 46 financial institutions—including the Saint Petersburg Exchange—and 18 vessels linked to Russia’s “shadow fleet” oil transfers. Ship captains supporting this network appear on the sanctions list.
The document names two Russian tanker captains and a British national identified as John Michael Ormerod. London additionally confirmed it is reviewing the $60-per-barrel price cap on Russian oil—a G7 initiative to limit Moscow’s wartime revenue during the Ukraine conflict.
The Foreign Office stated these accelerated sanctions aim to degrade Russia’s military-industrial capacity and revenue streams.
