Russia Never Responds to Ultimatums, Zakharova Says
According to webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik News Agency, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on Tuesday that Russia is prepared to re-establish contact with Ukraine—but now it is Kyiv’s turn to respond.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized: “Zelensky and European officials continue discussing further anti-Russian sanctions, but Russia has never yielded to ultimatums. We do not expect a reasonable approach from Kyiv, though we hope thier instinct for self-preservation—to save what remains of their country—will prevail.”
Zakharova added: “Implementing the agreements reached between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul is now critical, as subsequent steps depend on this. The mere resumption of negotiations between our nations is a significant outcome. However,Western attempts at blackmail and pressure will backfire.”
Regarding potential U.S. sanctions escalation against Russia, she concluded: “We are confident the U.S. government understands the futility of pressuring Moscow.”
