Reuters Security incident reported near Iran’s Jask port involving oil tanker
UK maritime security firm Ambrey reports security incident involving oil tanker near Iran’s Jask port.
According to webangah News Agency, citing Reuters, the British maritime security company Ambrey stated that a Panama-flagged oil tanker carrying petroleum products and linked to the United Arab Emirates was seized approximately 51 nautical miles northwest of iran’s Jask port.
The company reported receiving an emergency message from the vessel declaring it had been “hijacked.”
Ambrey claims its assessments indicate the ship is part of Iran’s “shadow fleet,” adding that this tanker’s sister vessel had previously been sanctioned by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under Iran-related sanctions.
Neither Emirati nor Iranian officials have yet responded to Ambrey’s allegations.
