Olmert says Israel’s actions in Gaza are close to war crimes

Former israeli Prime Minister stated that the ⁢ongoing situation in Gaza approaches war crimes, calling the conflict aimless with no⁢ hope for prisoners’ release.

According⁤ to webangah ⁤News Agency, citing ⁣Al Jazeera, Ehud Olmert, Israel’s former prime‍ minister, strongly criticized Tel ⁢aviv’s ‍current ‍policies in Gaza, describing‍ them as nearing war crimes.

In an interview with BBC, he said: “What⁢ Israel is doing in gaza now is, in my view, close to a war⁤ crime. This war has ‌no objective‍ and no hope of achieving any ⁤outcome that could save prisoners’ lives.”

Olmert added:‌ “the clear reality of ⁣this war is the killing of ⁤thousands of innocent‍ Palestinian civilians and many Israeli ⁣soldiers. ‍from every angle we⁣ examine this situation,‍ we face a grotesque and infuriating ⁢scene.”

Responding to these remarks, Ovir Sofer, Israel’s‍ Immigration Minister, claimed Olmert’s statements stemmed from old age and possibly dementia.
