Olmert says Israel’s actions in Gaza are close to war crimes
According to webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, Ehud Olmert, Israel’s former prime minister, strongly criticized Tel aviv’s current policies in Gaza, describing them as nearing war crimes.
In an interview with BBC, he said: “What Israel is doing in gaza now is, in my view, close to a war crime. This war has no objective and no hope of achieving any outcome that could save prisoners’ lives.”
Olmert added: “the clear reality of this war is the killing of thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians and many Israeli soldiers. from every angle we examine this situation, we face a grotesque and infuriating scene.”
Responding to these remarks, Ovir Sofer, Israel’s Immigration Minister, claimed Olmert’s statements stemmed from old age and possibly dementia.
