Netanyahu Attacks Olmert and Golan Over Criticism
the Israeli Prime Minister has launched a scathing attack on Ehud Olmert (former Israeli PM) and Yair Golan (leader of the Democratic Party in the occupied territories), according to webangah News Agency.
“I was shocked by the statements of Yair Golan and Ehud Olmert,” he said. “They are promoting Hamas’s rhetoric against Israel and its military.”
Netanyahu stated: “There are people among us who legitimize the slanderous accusations that we’re an apartheid state or child killers.”
He added: “This severely damages our international standing. Most people understand this is a just war that we entered legitimately.”
Ehud Olmert, former Israeli Prime Minister, had previously criticized Tel Aviv’s current policies in gaza, stating: “What Israel is doing in Gaza now borders on war crimes. This war has no clear objective nor hope of achieving anything that could save hostages’ lives. The clear reality is thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians being killed along with some soldiers – it’s a ‘hateful and infuriating’ war. We’re fighting Hamas, not innocent civilians – this must be made clear.”
The former prime minister also called for an immediate ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Yair Golan criticized Israel’s Gaza offensive: ”A sane cabinet doesn’t wage war on civilians, doesn’t kill infants for sport, or set goals for population expulsion. Israel risks becoming a pariah state. Our cabinet is full of immoral figures seeking revenge who can’t manage emergencies.”
