Andrei Portnov shot dead in Madrid
According to webangah News Agency, Spanish authorities reported that Andriy Portnov, a former Ukrainian parliament member known for supporting Russia, was fatally shot near Madrid.
A police source stated the victim was ambushed by “multiple assailants” who shot him in the back and head as he approached his vehicle. The armed attackers reportedly fled toward a wooded area immediately after the incident, which occurred outside an american private school.
Portnov served as deputy head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office during Viktor Yanukovych’s presidency (2010-2014).Yanukovych, a Putin ally, fled to Russia in 2014 after suppressing pro-western protests. earlier in his career during the 2000s, Portnov worked as a lawyer.
The United States sanctioned Portnov in 2021 for alleged corruption, accusing him of manipulating Ukraine’s judicial system to block reform efforts through his government connections.
