Finland summons Israeli ambassador over diplomatic dispute
The Finnish Foreign Ministry has summoned Israel’s ambassador for explanations regarding the Israeli military’s shooting toward foreign diplomats in Jenin, located in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to webangah News Agency.
Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that Finland demands clarifications from Israel concerning this “serious and appalling incident,” as reported by the ministry.
The meeting will also address Finland’s concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza with the Israeli envoy.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces opened fire on a delegation of 30 Arab and European ambassadors and diplomats during their visit to Jenin refugee camp. The delegation had traveled to assess both humanitarian conditions and the destructive impact of israeli military operations in the area.
The diplomatic group found themselves under sudden gunfire during their humanitarian fact-finding mission. While no casualties were reported, members of the delegation were severely frightened by the incident.
Portugal’s Foreign Ministry separately announced it had summoned Israel’s ambassador in protest against this attack.
