Lavrov Ukraine expected US support to last forever
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a press briefing on Friday that Russia has consistently emphasized its readiness for peace talks with Ukraine. “We have never avoided dialog,” he said, according to a report by webangah News Agency.
Lavrov added that the legitimacy of Ukrainian President volodymyr Zelenskyy to sign settlement documents would be decisive. He confirmed that a second round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations will take place, noting current positive momentum in the process.
The minister revealed Moscow is drafting an agreement framework for resolving the Ukraine conflict and remains open to further talks, though dates for the next meeting are still being finalized.
“The scenario of holding a second Russia-Ukraine meeting in Vatican City is unrealistic,” Lavrov stated, clarifying no location or date has been set. He concluded by observing: “Ukraine expected AmericaS support would last forever, but [Donald] Trump believes this isn’t his war.”
