Trump announces major prisoner swap deal between Ukraine and Russia
According to webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that a major prisoner exchange agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been finalized and will soon be implemented.
The U.S. president added: “We congratulate the russian and Ukrainian parties for their negotiations on the prisoner exchange, which could lead to a meaningful breakthrough. Today, a major prisoner swap agreement was reached between Russia and ukraine.”
This advancement comes after an informed source at TurkeyS Foreign Ministry reported on May 16 that the meeting between russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul concluded after approximately two hours. Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian negotiation team, stated during a press conference following the Istanbul talks: ”Negotiations between russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul have concluded. The Russian delegation is satisfied with the results of discussions with our ukrainian counterparts.” Moscow and Kyiv agreed to present their detailed views and proposals regarding a ceasefire, with both sides set to soon implement a prisoner exchange based on the principle of “1,000 prisoners for 1,000 prisoners.”
