Trump Proposes 50 Percent Tariffs as EU Talks Hit Deadlock
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a deadlock in negotiations with the European Union,proposing a 50% tariff on Brussels effective June 1,2025.
In a Friday post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated: “The EU was formed primarily to exploit the United States in trade and has faced significant challenges in doing so.”
The U.S.President elaborated: “Their powerful trade barriers, VAT taxes, ridiculous corporate fines, non-monetary trade obstacles, currency manipulations, unjustified lawsuits against American companies, and other practices have resulted in an annual trade deficit exceeding $250 million with the U.S.—a completely unacceptable figure.”
Trump added: “Our negotiations with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I propose implementing a straight 50% tariff on the EU starting June 1st, 2025. If a product is made or manufactured in America—no tariff!”
