US official calls Iran nuclear talks constructive
The fifth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman, took place in Rome, Italy, according to webangah News Agency.
Steve Witkopf, the Trump governance’s special representative, and Michael Anton, White House political planning director, participated in the talks alongside Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
An unnamed senior US official present at the Rome negotiations told Al Jazeera: “Today’s discussions were constructive. We’ve made further progress but still have work to do.”
The official added: “Washington and Tehran have agreed to meet again soon. We thank our Omani partners for their continued facilitation of these meetings.”
The US official claimed some discussions occurred both directly and indirectly between parties – an assertion Iranian officials deny.
