Russia to present peace agreement draft after prisoner exchange with Ukraine
According to webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that Russia is prepared to present Ukraine with a draft document outlining the conditions for a long-term peace agreement, following the completion of a prisoner swap between the warring parties.
In a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, Lavrov affirmed Russia’s commitment to achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict, which has now lasted over three years between Moscow and Kyiv.
Lavrov also accused Ukraine of carrying out a wave of drone attacks against Russian targets in recent days, resulting in civilian casualties and disruptions to air traffic. He claimed European countries had encouraged these strikes to undermine peace efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump.
On Friday, Russia and Ukraine each released 390 prisoners of war and announced plans for further exchanges in coming days. This initiative followed negotiations between officials from both countries last week in Turkey.
“We remain committed to resolving this conflict peacefully,” Lavrov said.”We are always ready for dialog and emphasize our adherence to recent agreements reached in Istanbul.”
the minister added: “We are actively working on the second phase of these agreements, which involves both parties preparing a draft document specifying conditions for achieving reliable,long-term solutions toward ending this war.”
