European Official Gaza Strip Atrocities May Constitute Genocide
Saskia Kluit,the Dutch rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe,said on Friday that what is happening in Gaza could constitute ethnic cleansing and genocide,according to a report by webangah News agency.
She added that the current atrocities in Gaza represent a horrific catastrophe.
“We urgently need to end the humanitarian crisis facing women,children,and prisoners in Gaza,” Kluit emphasized. “The horrific disaster in Gaza is a result of collective failure—we have abandoned this region.”
The official highlighted Israel’s complete blockade of Gaza since March 2023 and its obstruction of humanitarian aid. She noted that Gazans are trapped in an ever-shrinking territory with no safe zones remaining.
Her remarks come after over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed during more than a year and a half of violence in Gaza—yet European leaders still refuse to classify Israel’s actions as genocide.
