South Africa rejects Trump’s claim of white genocide
South African Police Minister Bheki Cele has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s allegation of white farmer genocide in the country, stating that black farmers constitute the majority of agricultural attack victims. According to webangah News Agency,Cele revealed that 5 out of every 6 attacks on farmers target black South Africans.
The minister described the term “genocide” as bizarre and unfair, citing official statistics showing black citizens have historically suffered most farm-related crimes. He emphasized that South Africa’s government has never implemented policies to confiscate land from white farmers.
During Wednesday’s meeting wiht President Cyril Ramaphosa,Cele refuted Trump’s claims about images presented during their discussion. The minister clarified these depicted crosses from a 2020 protest march in KwaZulu-Natal province – symbolic memorials for crime victims rather than evidence of mass white graves.
The white House terminated US aid to South Africa last Febuary, citing Pretoria’s actions against Israel at the International Court of Justice and its close ties with Iran. Meanwhile, demographic data shows South Africa’s white minority (7% population) controls over 70% of agricultural land, while the black majority (80+% population) owns just 4%.
