UK MPs push for official recognition of Palestine
According to webangah News Agency, UK cabinet ministers face growing pressure from both inside and outside the ruling Labour Party to formally recognize a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN conference in New York, scheduled for June 17-20.
The guardian reported that these demands coincide with party leaders advocating ethical positions and seizing what they call a unique opportunity for recognition amid escalating regional tensions. For countries like France and the UK—which haven’t yet recognized Palestine—this move would represent a significant diplomatic step.
Sixty-nine members of the House of Commons and six Lords endorsed this initiative in a joint letter signed this month, asserting it would advance peace-building opportunities.
The Palestinian issue has regained global prominence nearly two years into unprecedented crimes by the Zionist regime, mass protests worldwide condemning its actions, and widespread solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
