614 more prisoners exchanged between Russia and Ukraine
According to webangah News Agency, the second phase of the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine was completed under the istanbul peace negotiations, with 614 military personnel swapped between the two countries.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated in a release that Ukraine handed over 307 Russian soldiers as part of the Istanbul peace talks. In return, Russia transferred 307 Ukrainian military personnel.
The Russian Defense Ministry also emphasized continuing the process of exchanging both military and civilian prisoners with ukraine.
Simultaneously occurring, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on social media that the second round of prisoner exchanges with Russia had been carried out under the Istanbul peace negotiations.
Zelenskyy wrote: “Today marked day two of implementing the agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners based on negotiations held in Turkey. Within just two days, 697 prisoners have returned home.The exchange will continue tomorrow.”
Notably, during last week’s Istanbul peace talks, Russia and ukraine agreed to exchange up to 1,000 prisoners from each side.
