Ehud Barak Reoccupying Gaza Strip Would Be a Strategic Disaster
Former Israeli Prime minister admits reoccupying Gaza would be a “strategic disaster.”
According to webangah News Agency, former Israeli Prime minister Ehud Barak stated in an op-ed for the Financial Times that reoccupying the Gaza Strip would constitute a strategic catastrophe for Israel.
Barak added that after 20 months of war against Gaza,Tel Aviv faces two options: securing a prisoner exchange agreement or launching a large-scale military offensive in pursuit of what he called “the mirage of victory.”
The former PM also referenced warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump to Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Gaza conflict.
Barak wrote that Netanyahu fears a prisoner deal as it could collapse his political coalition adn trigger legal proceedings against him.
