Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova Condemns Drone Attack on Embassy in Sweden
According to webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned a drone attack on the countryS embassy in Sweden, citing a report by Sputnik.
Zakharova stated that a formal protest note would be delivered to Stockholm on Monday.
The spokesperson emphasized: “Stockholm must prevent these attacks and fulfill it’s obligations under the Vienna Convention.”
The Russian Embassy in sweden confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that a drone flew over diplomatic premises and dropped a glass container filled with paint near the main entrance. Officials noted the particular danger stemmed from operators using breakable glass containers that could cause serious injury if dropped from height.
Russian diplomats stressed such attacks have occurred regularly for about a year.
The embassy further stated: “Despite repeated requests from Russia,Sweden has taken no effective action”,calling this disregard for basic norms of international law.Swedish authorities would bear full responsibility for any consequences of such incidents, it warned.
The diplomatic mission has repeatedly urged Swedish police and foreign ministry officials to prevent these violations and ensure embassy security per the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
