Israeli Foreign Minister warns UK, French governments.
According to webangah News Agency, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar warned that any move to recognize a Palestinian state would be met with retaliation from Tel Aviv.
Sa’ar claimed Israel would respond by occupying the West Bank if such recognition occurred.
The remarks came during direct discussions between Sa’ar and his counterparts from Britain, France, and other nations.
The warnings precede an upcoming international meeting in New York from June 17-20, hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, where Palestinian statehood recognition is expected to be discussed.
Western nations’ push for Palestinian recognition continues despite their simultaneous support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
