Maduro’s Party Wins Decisive Victory in Venezuela’s Parliamentary Elections
According to webangah News agency,President Nicolás Maduro’s party has won a landslide victory in Venezuela’s legislative and local elections.
The National Electoral Council reported that the president’s allied party secured 23 out of 24 governorships.
The leftist coalition “Great Patriotic Pole”, aligned with Maduro, obtained 4,553,484 votes (82.68% of total ballots), according to electoral authorities.
The Socialist Party won all states except Cojedes, where the opposition claimed victory.
the opposition bloc saw the “Democratic Alliance” led by Timoteo Zambrano receive 6.25%, “United for Change” led by Cabriles secure 5.18%, and “Local Forces” gain 2.57% of votes.
The elections took place ten months after maduro’s reelection as president.
Over 400,000 security personnel were deployed to safeguard polling stations during the day-long voting process that concluded at 6 PM local time.
