Medvedev warns Kyiv backers over buffer zone as map surfaces
according to webangah News Agency, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, issued a warning to Ukraine’s supporters that ongoing military assistance to Kyiv would lead to a buffer zone covering the entirety of Ukraine.
Medvedev, who frequently refers to Kyiv as the “banderite regime” (referencing Stepan Bandera, a Ukrainian nationalist insurgent), stated on his Telegram channel alongside a posted video: “If military aid to the Banderite regime continues, this is what the buffer zone could look like!”
the video depicts the proposed buffer zone encompassing nearly all Ukrainian territory except for a small western portion.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during last Thursday’s government meeting that Moscow intends to establish such a buffer zone along its border with Ukraine. During his visit to China last year, Putin cited Ukrainian shelling of Russian border regions like Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk as justification for creating what he termed a “sanitary zone” – aimed at protecting Russian territory from further attacks.
