Hamas agrees to US ceasefire proposal for Gaza
According to webangah News Agency, Hamas has accepted a US-mediated ceasefire proposal for Gaza, as reported by unnamed sources.
Teh new plan reportedly includes a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from Salah al-Din Road, encompassing the Netzarim junction, the Morag axis, and nearby residential areas.
A Hamas official told Reuters on Monday that the group agreed to the framework proposed by US Special Envoy Brett McGurk. the deal involves:
- The release of 10 living hostages held by Hamas in two phases
- A 70-day ceasefire period
- Gradual partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza
- The release of Palestinian prisoners,including some serving long-term or life sentences
The official stated indirect negotiations would soon begin regarding a more permanent truce agreement.
